How to Set your Notes password on Apple devices

You can set the password either in the device Settings or directly in the app. You can turn on Use Touch ID on your device so that you can directly use your fingerprint to unlock your protected notes. The first time you try to protect a note or the first time you visit password section in Notes settings, you’re automatically asked to set a global password for the app.To set the password in Notes:

  1. Open Notes app in your device.
  2. Tap on an existing note or type a new one.
  3. Now tap on the Share button.
  4. Click on the Lock Note.
  5. It asks you to set the password this password will be for all your Notes.
  6. Verify the password by entering it again.
  7. Add a Hint if you want.
  8. Switch Use Touch ID to on, if you want to use a faster way to unlock.

How to lock an Apple Notes with Password or Touch ID

  1. Open Notes app in your device.
  2. Tap on an existing note or type a new one.
  3. Now tap on the Share button.
  4. Click on the Lock Note.
  5. Use Touch ID, if kept, to lock the note instead of typing the password.

6. If the Touch ID isn’t available, enter your password and tap OK.Now a lock animation confirms that your note has been secured.

How to unlock Apple notes with password or Touch ID

For a locked note only the title of the note is visible, you need to unlock it to see, edit or to work on it.

  1. Open Notes app on your device.
  2. Tap on the note which you want to unlock.
  3. Click on View Note at center or Lock button at the top right.
  4. Use Touch ID to unlock fast or if it isn’t available, enter the Notes password.An unlock animation confirms that the note has been unlocked.

How to re-lock the Apple notes

Notes get locked automatically if you lock or reboot your device or if the app quits and restarted. A note can also be manually re-locked at any time.

  1. Open Notes app on your device.
  2. Tap on the note which you want to unlock.
  3. Click on the Lock button at the top right.
  4. The note will be locked immediately and you’ll have to re-unlock to use it.

  3. Click on Password-> Reset Password.
  4. Enter your Apple ID password- password you use for iCloud.
  5. Enter a New Password – this is for all your Notes app where ever you’re using it.
  6. Verify the password by entering it again.
